In collaboration with Hellesund Fiskeoppdrett and OceanFarm Holding, EcoFishCircle has begun groundwork for a new land-based fish farming facility at Hausvik in Lyngdal. The facility will produce post-smolt using the company's mRAS technology, which has been tested at smaller scale in the same location.
The operation targets completion in fall 2025 with planned annual production of 190 tons of postsmolt.
"With this facility, we are taking a big step towards commercializing a new standard for land-based aquaculture."
— Daniel Jakobsen, CEO
OceanFarm Holding provides operational expertise. Hellesund Fiskeoppdrett contributes financing and value-chain knowledge. Innovation Norway has provided project funding. Post-smolt will supply Hellesund's fish farms to improve health and efficiency.
"Existing off-the-shelf components in a new, standardized process design," reducing investment costs while enhancing biosecurity and flexibility.
— Mats Staddeland, Head of Technology
The Hausvik facility represents a foundation for expanding technology sales and scaling the subsidiary Lista Laks, which received permits for 6,000 tons of food fish annually in May 2024. The company aims to demonstrate a complete commercial concept integrating high biosecurity, lower costs, and minimal environmental impact.
